What is as old as me, but done more for the world?

I was wondering on topics to blog about and as such thought ok you 38 and year 1977 was a golden age.

Well what was the world like then?

The EnterpriseNASA Space Shuttle makes its first test flight released from the back of a Boeing 747 and a successful landing at Edwards Air force Base in California. Originally named the Constitution, a write in campaign to NASA by Star Trek fans managed to get the name changed.


The first Apple II computers go on sale. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak become super nerds of the decade. Unlike the competing Commodore PET and the Tandy TRS-80 the Apple two sported color graphics, a 5 1/4 floppy drive and an open architecture. It was the first popular Desktop Computer winning the day for its KILLER APP the VisiCalc spreadsheet.

The original Apple II tech spec used a MOS Technology 6502 microprocessor running at 1 MHz, 4 KB of RAM, an audio cassette interface for loading programs and storing data, and the Integer BASIC programming language built into the ROMs. The video controller displayed 24 lines by 40 columns of monochrome, upper-case-only text on the screen, with NTSC composite video output suitable for display on a TV monitor, or on a regular TV set by way of a separate RF modulator. The Apple II series of computers with refinements and upgrades were produced until production ceased in November 1993.

This was the vision of the future, but on my uncle and aunty’s Betamax video.  i was taken on this adventure thinking that’s what I will be when I grow up travelling from galaxy to galaxy fighting injustice and saving good looking women from evil men.  Wow to be that kid again, amazing dreams and the endless dreaming of far far away adventures.
